February was a rough month for us. Money was tight. The last two weeks were full of boat problems, it felt like our little home was rebelling against us. The toilet quit, we found mold, our batter charger died, which is pretty bad since that’s what’s responsible for the fridge, the lights, the water, the toilet… yeah.
But, the bright spot in all of the was that my sweet, sweet husband planned a weekend away for us at Guemes Island Resort. If you’ve never been, GO. Delightful staff, incredible location, wood stove in every cabin, and a gourmet food truck serving up the best burger I’ve ever had. Plus, kayaks you could take out whenever you wanted. Can you believe that I’ve lived my entire life in the PNW and never been kayaking? I was missing out.
So maybe it wasn’t the best timing for us to get away. Maybe we should have stayed home, not missed a day of work, whatever. But the longer we’re married, the more we realize the importance of time away. Not only because we are both adventurous souls, but in the midst of everything going on and the stress in our lives, we needed a chance for quality time. To learn how to play cribbage, cook in a real kitchen, and take time to pray and communicate and get back on the same page. And when we came back, we were a little worried about money, but Jesus provided everything we needed.
Here’s some photos I took on our trip, some from my camera and some from my phone (sorry about the quality!)
